Engagement Model
Embedded External Development Partner
7T partnered with Three Colonist to help build the 3D foundation behind a fully customizable apparel platform, allowing users to design personalized garments from a library of interchangeable templates and components. Every garment needed to support countless combinations of colors, patterns, and modular clothing pieces while remaining visually and technically consistent.
What began as a 3D asset production engagement quickly evolved into a long-term technical partnership. We worked alongside 7T to develop the modular production pipeline, define technical standards, and establish the workflows that enabled the platform to scale. Over a multi-year engagement, Three Colonist delivered more than 400 garment templates built from thousands of modular components while coordinating large-scale production across multiple teams.
As the engagement evolved, Three Colonist became an embedded external development partner—helping shape the production pipeline, establish technical standards, and coordinate large-scale delivery alongside 7T's team.
Building a system where thousands of modular clothing components could be mixed, matched, and recombined without breaking visual or technical consistency was the real challenge. Every asset had to follow the same construction logic, allowing customers to customize garments freely while ensuring every combination remained production-ready.
Before large-scale production could begin, the underlying system had to be designed. Three Colonist worked alongside the client to define modular asset standards, production workflows, and the technical framework that enabled the platform to scale.
Rather than approaching the project as a traditional outsourcing engagement, Three Colonist became a technical production partner throughout the development process. We collaborated directly with 7T to define the modular asset system, establish production standards, and build the workflows that enabled the platform to scale. Once the foundation was established, the project transitioned into sustained production, delivering more than 400 configurable garment templates built from thousands of modular components. Three Colonist led production quality, coordinated multiple teams, and ensured every asset met the technical standards required for seamless customization.

Three Colonist built a modular garment system comprising more than 400 configurable apparel templates, each assembled from an average of 8–10 interchangeable 3D components. Every component was developed to integrate seamlessly within the wider asset library, enabling large-scale customization through a consistent, production-ready pipeline.
The project's success depended on much more than asset production. We worked closely with 7T to develop the modular production framework that powered the configurator, defining how assets were constructed, connected, and validated. Through extensive R&D, we established the standards and workflows that allowed thousands of interchangeable components to behave consistently across countless garment combinations, creating a scalable production system rather than a collection of individual assets.
As the engagement evolved, Three Colonist became an embedded external development partner rather than a traditional outsourcing vendor. We collaborated directly with 7T's leadership to refine production workflows, establish technical standards, and support large-scale delivery. At peak production, we coordinated internal specialists alongside additional external production teams, ensuring consistency, quality, and reliable delivery across the entire pipeline.
